Tour Overview
9 Days Tanzania Southern Safari
The southern parks provide a variety of experiences, including walking safaris, wetlands, and water excursions. Dar es Salaam can be used as the starting point for exploring the parks and reserves that are part of the southern circuit. Mikumi is located on both sides of the road that meanders down to Iringa and Mbeya in the west.
Both river excursions on the Rufiji River and walking safaris are excellent in the Nyerere National Park, which is south of Mikumi. Forests, waterfalls, and unique endemics are the main attractions of Udzungwa Mountains National Park, while the jewel of the southern circuit is Ruaha National Park, which is located just west of Iringa.
Day to day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival Day at Julius Nyerere International Airport
After pleasantries and welcoming procedures, meet your Bhutto Tours and Safaris representative at Julius Nyerere International Airport. From there, take a drive to a hotel in Dar es Salaam for dinner and overnight. As you wait to begin your unforgettable tour adventure in the next hours, enjoy your wonderful night.
Day 2: Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park
Today is a pretty day as you are going to explore southern Tanzania, one of the reputable destinations with unspoiled wildlife. The program starts with a delicious breakfast from the hotel, followed by a drive to Mikumi with packed lunch boxes. Enjoy en-route attractions on the way to the park, and you will probably arrive in the afternoon. Mikumi has well-designated picnic areas to celebrate your lunch ready after arriving before proceeding with the game drive.
One of Tanzania's biggest parks, Mikumi is home to a variety of animals. Due to the park's proximity to Dar es Salaam, it is the ideal place to begin your Southern Tanzania safari, which will provide you with an unforgettable travel experience. Mikumi National Park has excellent opportunities to see the Big Five, which include lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, and rhinoceroses. Your guide will drive you to a lodge for dinner and overnight after the wildlife drive.
Day 3: Mikumi to Ruaha National Park
After a delectable breakfast, we set off with our packed lunches to begin the drive to Ruaha National Park. The large Ruaha River, which flows toward the park's southeast corner, gave the area its name. The trip will last for roughly 4 to 5 hours, and in addition to being exciting, you'll have the chance to see a lot of wildlife and capture some amazing pictures to keep in your memories.
Before continuing with the rest of the day's activities, enjoy your picnic lunch in the late afternoon. A staggering variety of animals and bird species can be seen in the park. If time permits, you can have a wildlife drive in the late afternoon, then have dinner and spend the night at a lodge in Ruaha.
Day 4 & 5: Ruaha National Park
Sound judgments lead to wonderful memories! Spend two days discovering the natural world, wildlife, birds, and the best experiences on a game drive in Ruaha National Park. Tanzania's second-largest national park, Ruaha, may require two full days to fully appreciate and make unforgettable memories of the area. The park is home to more than 571 different bird species. Hornbills are one of the resident species. A lot of migratory birds also stop through the area.
Predators like the endangered wild dog and the lion pride are especially easy to identify. The enormous Ruaha also has excellent wilderness appeal, with a small number of private luxury sites, plus elephants and a variety of antelope species. In Tanzania's northern circuit, it's common to see several antelope species that are uncommon elsewhere, including greater and lesser kudu, roan, and stable antelope.
You will enjoy your picnic lunch in the afternoon, take a quick rest, and then continue your afternoon game drive. You will be able to halt during the game drive for the finest photo opportunities of resident animals, who are more frequently spotted during the dry season since the heat is less intense and a lot of dust is stirred up around the pack and prevents them from hiding in the sun-withered shrub.
In the rainy season, safaris can become uncomfortably humid, and certain roads might not be passable. After the game drive, your guide will drive you to a lodge in Ruaha where you will spend the night and have dinner.
Day 6: Ruaha to Nyerere National Park
Drive to Nyerere National Park after an early breakfast, though flying between the two locations would be preferable due to the distance involved. Proceeding to the runway, we will travel to Nyerere National Park, where your knowledgeable Bhutto Tours and Safaris guides will welcome you and drive you to the lodge/camp where you may savor a sumptuous meal. You will have the time of your life riding a boat on the Rufiji River after lunch in the afternoon. This is a unique experience that differs greatly from traditional game drives.
There are two different kinds of boat rides available in the park: a short safari trip that departs from the reserve's borders at dusk or sunset along the Rufiji River, and a full-day boat safari that offers a more in-depth look at the area and allows you to see elephants bathing or crossing the river. While sipping a sundowner, observe the herds of animals making their way to the river to drink. Fish eagles, herons, Egyptian geese, storks, bee-eaters, and kingfishers abound in this birdwatcher's paradise.
Your guide will drive you to a lodge in Nyerere for dinner and the night after the wildlife drive.
Day 7 & 8: Nyerere National Park
The two full days you have at Nyerere National Park should be filled with amazing game drives and excursions. You must take part in one of the escorted walking tours for your two days in Nyerere to be considered complete. As you take in the allure and tranquility of this far-flung but stunning reserve, you will get the chance to experience Mother Nature up close.
Allowing for the opportunity to inspect and explore many regions of the sizable park, as well as having excellent photo opportunities. You will eat your picnic lunch in the afternoon, take a quick rest, and then continue your afternoon game drive.
Along with being well-known for its vast herds of elephants, hippos, and rhinos, the region is also abundant in sable antelopes, eland, and greater kudu. The two full days you have at Nyerere National Park should be filled with amazing game drives and excursions. Unless you participate in one of the guided safaris waterbucks, spotted hyenas, lions, leopards, and a bird list of more than 400 species, your two days at Nyerere will not be deemed complete. Nyerere National Park would undoubtedly not disappoint those who enjoy bird viewing.
Your guide will drive you to a lodge for dinner and the night after the wildlife drive.
