Tour Overview
8 Days Lemosho Route:
It is more secluded and undeniably more attractive as a modern road, although it is slightly longer and more expensive. It begins at the Londorossi Gate on the mountain’s western side, a lengthier drive from town, and was introduced as an alternative to the Shira route.
On the third day, it crosses the Shira Plateau to join the Machame Route at Lava Tower, then descends through the Southern Circuit to Barranco Valley. You might get lucky and witness a buffalo, elephant, or other game. Because it provides hikers more time for acclimatization, this route has a greater summit success rate.
Day to day Itinerary
Day 0: Arrival Day
When you arrive in Tanzania, whether via Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, you will be greeted by our native professional driver guide, who will provide you with crucial information and details regarding your trip and program.
He will assist you with loading and sorting your things before transporting you to your hotel for rest, dinner, and overnight stay. Your driver guide will share the best stories and information about Tanzania and its people's culture with you on the trip to the hotel.
Day 1: Londrossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp
Elevation: 2389m to 2785m
Leaving from Moshi or Arusha for the Kilimanjaro National Park entrance We'll wait patiently for our permits while watching the hustle and bustle of operations as several crews prepare for the road ahead.
You may enjoy the gorgeous rainforest scenery and windy trails as your guide teach you about the local flora and fauna and natural species. At these lower elevations, the trail can be muddy and slippery. Gaiters and trekking poles are strongly advised.
Day 2: Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp
Elevation: 2785m to 3504m
We leave the rainforest and continue on a climbing trail after a pleasant night's sleep and a substantial breakfast. The trail climbs steadily with expansive vistas to the Shira Plateau's rim. The temperature begins to drop.
Day 3: Shira 1 Camp to Shira Hut
Elevation: 3504m to 3895m
The Shira plateau is where we will spend the entire day. A pleasant hike east toward Kibo's glaciered peak, across the plateau, and down to Shira 2 camp, which is set on moorland meadows beside a stream, is required.
Then we go to Moir Hut, a little-visited spot at the base of the Lent Hills. Lent Hills has a variety of routes, making it a good place to acclimate. Shira is one of the highest plateaus on the planet.
Day 4: Shira Hut to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp
Elevation: 3895m to 3986m
Even though you conclude the day at about the same elevation as you began, this day is crucial for acclimatization. We continue east from Shira Plateau over a ridge, past the junction to Kibo Peak, and turn southeast towards the Lava Tower.
Soon after the tower, we come to another fork that leads to the Arrow Glacier. We next make our way down to Barranco Camp, where we'll spend the night.
Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
Elevation: 3986m to 4034m
After breakfast, we continue on a rocky slope up to the difficult Barranco Wall to the Karanga Valley and the Mweka Trail junction. Seeing your crew's power, agility, and strength jet over this wall with apparent ease is one of the most remarkable days. Stay at Karanga Camp for the night.
Day 6: Hike Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
Elevation: 4034m to 4662m
We continue up toward Barafu Camp, and when you arrive, you will have completed the South Circuit, which offers amazing views of the peak from all viewpoints. We'll eat and relax early before summit night. Stay at Barafu Camp for the night.
Day 7: Barafu Camp to Summit to Mweka Camp
Elevation: 4662m to 5895m to 3106m
With a start time of between midnight and 2 a.m., the anticipation rises as the morning approaches. This is the most difficult phase of the journey, both physically and mentally.
We continue climbing between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers, trying to stay warm while contemplating the tremendous sense of accomplishment that awaits us. Using a switchback motion, ascend across hard scree toward Stella Point on the crater rim in a northwesterly direction.
During your brief time here, you will be rewarded with a beautiful sunrise. For speedier hikers, the sunrise may be visible from the peak. You will probably certainly encounter snow on your final 1-hour ascent to Uhuru Peak.
You've arrived at Uhuru Peak, the highest peak on Mount Kilimanjaro and the entire African continent!
We take a few seconds to savor this wonderful achievement after photos, celebrations, and probably a few tears of joy. We begin our trek to Mweka Camp, stopping for lunch and a brief rest in Barafu. For unruly loose gravel and volcano ash terrain, we strongly recommend gaiters and trekking poles. On your final evening on the mountain, get some well-deserved rest. You'll spend the night in Mweka Camp.
Day 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
Elevation: 3106m to 1633m
It's time to say farewell after breakfast and a moving ceremony of thanks and team building with your crew. We will next proceed to the Mweka Park Gate to get your summit certificates.
The terrain is damp, muddy, and steep due to the warmer weather, and we strongly recommend gaiters and trekking poles. In Mweka village, a van will be waiting to transport you back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha.
