Mikumi National Park, Nyerere National Park, Ruaha National Park, and the pristine beaches of Zanzibar are all included in an exhilarating tour along Tanzania’s Southern Circuit. Southern Tanzania is a hidden gem, with stunning wilderness areas offering an incredibly rich and varied safari experience.
This off-the-beaten-path safari excursion travels through two of Tanzania’s more isolated and uninhabited wildlife areas and includes a stop for relaxation on the shores of a tropical island. A fly-in safari featuring opulent lodging and knowledgeable guides for complete immersion in an untamed environment.
Day to day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Julius Nyerere International Airport
Bhutto Tours and Safaris will meet you at Julius Nyerere International Airport and take you to a lodge in Dar es Salaam, which unlike other towns in East Africa, combines the bustle of Tanzania's main city with a wonderfully laid-back pace of life. You'll be driven to a city center lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Mikumi National Park
Your driver-guide will take you to Mikumi National Park in Tanzania's southern circuit after breakfast. The park is a stunning location known for its excellent wildlife viewing opportunities and small tourist population.
You will have the opportunity to discover a variety of attractions as you pass through towns and villages. In Morogoro, you will have lunch while admiring the views of the Uluguru Mountains and meeting some of the locals.
Then, continue driving to Mikumi National Park. When you arrive at Mikumi National Park around midday, you will go on a short game drive to see the beauty of the park as well as many animals such as elephants, giraffes, wild dogs, lions, antelopes, and others. Your guide will drive you to your lodge for dinner and overnight after a full day of excursions.
Day 3: Ruaha National
After breakfast, your driver-guide will drive you to the beautiful Ruaha National Park, which is known for its excellent wildlife viewing opportunities and low visitor numbers. On your way to the park, take in spectacular views of the eastern Arc Mountains; you'll see incredible landscape formations along the way. You will take a lunch break after arriving at Ruaha National Park before continuing your game drive in search of park residents such as zebras, buffalo, giraffes, smaller and larger kudus, waterbucks, hartebeest, impalas, bushbucks, and over 400 bird species.
During the dry season, impala, waterbuck, and other antelopes risk their lives in search of a drop of life-sustaining water. Furthermore, there is a risk not only from the lions and cheetahs that roam the savannah's open grassland. Striped and spotted hyenas, as well as several prominent packs of the critically endangered African wild dog, add to the incredible diversity of massive predators. Continue your game drive until dusk, when your guide will drive you to a lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Ruaha National Park
After a hearty breakfast, we set out on an early-morning game drive through Ruaha National Park. Furthermore, several well-known protected sites in Tanzania provide a stunning view of bird life and allow you to see a variety of birds, some of which may migrate to Ruaha National Park. The spectacular and well-known Ruaha River, which is home to several crocodiles and hippos, is one of the best wildlife spots during the drives, especially when the river is full of water.
You may see elephants, zebras, lions, giraffes, hunting dogs, ostriches, greater and lesser kudu, grant gazelles, striped hyenas, sable, and roan antelopes, and other animals. In the middle of the afternoon, we'll serve a bush picnic lunch inside the park and take a short break before finishing the maximum number of hours allotted for a full day of wildlife viewing. Your guide will take you to the lodge for dinner and overnight in the evening.
Day 5: Nyerere National Park
Your guide will drive you to Nyerere National Park, Tanzania's largest national park, after breakfast. After arriving in Morogoro, you will drive along the Uluguru Mountains, which are named after the Luguru tribe who live in the rural villages that surround the mountains.
We will have a picnic lunch in the park and then go on a short game drive through the park's surroundings to see animals such as rhinos, antelopes, hyenas, African wolves, lions, wildebeests, giraffes, zebras, hippopotamuses, large number of crocodiles in the Rufiji River, depending on the time we arrive. After a day of activities, your guide will drive you to your lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.
Day 6: Nyerere National Park
Following a hearty breakfast, you will embark on your final game drive on Tanzania's southern circuit, carrying your packed lunch boxes and having a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see animals. Elephants, giraffes, lions, buffalo, zebras, and even the endangered African wild dog are possible sightings.
There will be plenty of opportunities to see rare wildlife interactions in this natural setting along the way. In addition to the typical African bush dwellers, up to 400 different bird species can be seen. Later, you'll go on a boat safari to see elephants, birds, crocodiles, and hippopotamuses up close while admiring the scenery. After the day's events, your guide will transport you to the lodge for a delicious meal and an overnight stay.
Day 7: Nyerere National Park to Zanzibar Island
You will set out early in the morning with an armed ranger for a stroll in the park's bush because it is your last day in Nyerere National Park. You might encounter some wildlife while out on a walk, but the emphasis is on the birdlife and the ecology that animals inhabit. Before you travel to Zanzibar Island, your guide will drive you back to your lodge so you may unwind, later followed by a local flight to Zanzibar Island.
When you arrive in Zanzibar, you will be welcomed by a Bhutto Tours and Safaris guide and taken to your Stone Town accommodation for relaxation. Your guide will take you on a sunset boat trip. As you travel down the coast, music, refreshments, and light snacks will keep you entertained. After a day of relaxation, your guide will take you to a restaurant for a delicious dinner before accompanying you to your lodge overnight.
Day 8: Stone Town Tour
A stroll through the ritzy coastal streets is a great way to start the day of cultural exploration.
Stone Town, Zanzibar, is a prime example of an East African Swahili coastal commercial town. It has many historic homes that demonstrate its distinct culture, which has brought together and homogenized diverse components of African civilizations, and its urban fabric and townscape have largely remained unchanged.
You will start your full-day cultural excursion of Stone Town after a sumptuous breakfast, with stops at the House of Wonders, the Palace Museum, the Arab Fort, and the Slave Chambers. You can discover more about the occasions that molded Zanzibar's history over many years by visiting these historical places. You'll be able to maneuver around the perplexing labyrinth of Stone Town's streets like Zanzibar's historic rulers and citizens.
In the afternoon, you will have seafood served in the Swahili style at Forodhani Gardens. Your guide will drive you to your hotel where you may rest and spend the night.
Day 9: Spice Tour & Water Sports Activities
Your guide will take you on a tour of the spice plantation following breakfast at the lodge. various spices are there for you to touch, feel, and taste. Learn about the varied tastes and textures on offer, as well as the therapeutic benefits of spices like nutmeg, cinnamon, and clove.

After the day's activities, your guide will drive you to a lodge where you can have dinner and spend the night.
Day 10: A visit to the Jozani forest
After a filling breakfast, your tour guide will take you on another journey into Jozani Forest. If you want to see the endangered red colobus monkeys that are native to Zanzibar, it's a beautiful and serene location to go. Untamed and extremely laid-back, the monkeys are not intimidated by humans and are easily approached and watched as they go about their daily lives. In addition to its endemic species, other potential sightings include the Bushbaby, over 45 different butterfly species, and a range of bird species. The elusive Zanzibar leopard, which emerges at night to feed, is another famous resident of the woods.
We'll halt for lunch and a little break in the early afternoon to soak in the magnificent vistas of the forest's trees and fauna. Following lunch, you will carry on your journey in the direction of the seashore mangroves, where you will gain more knowledge about mangroves and how they contribute to stopping coastal erosion. Your guide will drive you to a lodge for dinner and the night after an exciting day.
Day 11: Departure
Today, after all of your beautiful experiences, is the day to say goodbye. Depending on your itinerary, you will be taken to the airport in Zanzibar after a sumptuous breakfast in preparation for your departing flight.
